Welcome to 2018, Rebels fans!
We hope you had a safe and restful break. After a brief hiatus for the holidays, we’re back with Friday summaries of Prep’s winter sports.
The holidays were a successful time for Rebels girls basketball. They took down Sierra and Temple City right before the break, followed by one loss to La Canada and four wins, against Arleta, Hart, South Hills and Westridge. Their 10-5 overall record and 2-0 League record are looking promising as they head into their first League game today. After four consecutive losses over the holidays, the boys’ side bounced back with three wins, versus San Marino, Shalhevet and McAuliffe. Their record is 6-9 as they approach League play, starting with their game against Rio Hondo today.
Preseason had some major highlights for girls’ soccer, who were matched with some difficult teams early on but have maintained a 9-4-2 record so far. They approach League play looking confident, having won 7 of the last 9 games they’ve played (and tying the other 2). Boys’ soccer took down Maranatha 1-0 at their post-New-Year’s game, followed by a 1-5 loss against San Marcos in Santa Barbara. Overall, their record stands at 5-6-1 so far, looking strong as they approach upcoming games against Chadwick, Firebaugh and Poly.
With a 1-2 record in League so far (2-6 overall), girls water polo lost 4-5 in a close matchup against Chadwick on Wednesday.
