The 2017 Golf Tournament is about enjoying a day of golf with a superb view of Los Angeles as your backdrop. It’s about raising funds for the John Plumb ’64 Fund for Faculty Development. Above all else, it is about community. At the annual event, hosted by the Flintridge Prep Fathers Club, 120 current and newly admitted parents joined friends, alumni and parents of alumni, as well as faculty and staff, in a competitive round of golf at the La Canada Flintridge Country Club. After hitting the links, guests had the option of attending a wine tasting and silent auction. During dinner, guests enjoyed the comedy stylings of the school’s competitive ComedySportz team.
Headmaster Peter Bachmann reminded the assembled guests that John Plumb, an alum, coach and former director of alumni relations, had a hand in founding the Golf Tournament, recognizing John as the embodiment of Prep for Life. Fathers Club president Leland Louie, who has been deeply involved with the Golf Tournament for the last four years, praised his committee of organizers, John Brown ’81, Kenny Pawlek, Eric Kristensson, Kevin Gunning, Al Bazzi, Bill Bremer and Bruce Blair for a flawless day, noting that participation this year was up 50% over last year, due to the popularity of the event and the generosity of the event’s very gracious sponsors from the Flintridge Prep community.
