There are three major events during commencement weekend.
The Baccalaureate service will be held Saturday, May 26, 5:00PM, in Norris Auditorium. Doors open a half hour before the service begins, at 4:30PM. The Baccalaureate service provides a time for quiet reflection preparatory to the next day's more celebratory event. This service features performances by student musicians, readings from the diverse wisdom traditions and faiths that make up the Prep family, and an address by a special invited guest.
Because seating in Norris Auditorium is limited, we ask that each graduate invite no more than two guests to the Baccalaureate service. Additional details can be found in the end-of-year information packet/invitation that is mailed to families in April. Young children may find the quiet nature of the Baccalaureate service less than enjoyable, but adults who are caring for young children can watch the service via closed-circuit television.
The Baccalaureate service is followed immediately by an alfresco buffet dinner, held on Ahmanson Plaza (located just outside the auditorium, next to the library). Since the service is buffet style, both meat and vegetarian options are readily available.
Although we ask that graduates invite no more than two guests to the Baccalaureate service, you may invite additional family members to join you for the buffet dinner. Please indicate the number of guests that you plan to invite for dinner on your response card.
After dinner, all guests are invited to return to the auditorium to enjoy a video presentation celebrating the senior class.
We ask that graduates return their response cards promptly, so that we can best accommodate our guests. If you have questions or special requests regarding the senior dinner, please contact Barbara Ealy in the development office at 818-949-5522 or email email@example.com.
Commencement will be held Sunday, May 27, 7:00 pm, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium. Doors open for guests at 6:30 pm. This joyous event celebrates the achievement of our senior class and features the presentation of awards, speeches by the Benton Trophy winner, the Founders Trophy winner and the student-elected class speaker before the presentation of diplomas.
The Pasadena Civic Auditorium provides significantly more seating than Norris Auditorium, so graduates are welcome to invite as many guests as they like to the Commencement ceremony.
A reception is held in the plaza outside the auditorium immediately after the ceremony.
